The only sanctuary of St. George Malesina is located one kilometer northeast of Malesina on the Aetolimni Peninsula.

The monastery was founded in the 11th century AD by two monks of Mount Athos according to tradition. It was originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary and after the 17th century to Saint George.
